How do we design a class just for you?
We understand every human body is different and at a different level of activity, flexibility, fitness and emotional balance. Before designing, we understand each student for a detailed evaluation and tailor the practice just suited for their immediate need & long term goals. Each class design will be as per the activity and the energy level of the body for that day keeping the long-term goal in mind. These classes are conducted in person or online.
Which Yoga Style is correct for me?
There are many styles of Asana Practice and many kind of Yoga postures, but not every style or posture is good for everyone. At Yukta yoga we focus on understanding the individual, their life goal and their objective from the class. This is done by asking questions before joining the class and through observation while the individual is practicing in the class. Basis that, each individual is given a sequence to practice which is beneficial for them and aligned to their objective from the class.
Does Yoga help in weight loss
Asana practice can help in burning calrories, but this needs to be seen in a holistic way. As we know our weight loss journey is 5% is what we do on the Mat and 95% is how we behave outside of the Mat. Yoga practice is probably one of the most effective way of managing the lifestyle out side of the Mat. While Asanas operates at a physical level in loosing fat by inches and toning up the muscle, improving joint mobility and by improving hormonal balance. It is seen that consistent yoga practice helps in managing mood, uplift metabolism, and practicing correct breathing along with Asanas helps in managing stress and help in reducing emotional eating and making right food choices. All of this contributes to improving lifestyle and lead to a comprehensive fit and healthy body.
How long should I practice Yoga to get the benefit
Yoga is a journey for long term. This is not just a series of Asanas, but a doorway to a healthy lifestyle. This is a philosophy which is very Vast and Asana is one part of it. Now if someone is looking a specific benefit like a weight loss or managing stress etc, then we design special sequences to meet those objectives. But from our experience we have seen once someone starts their journey in the path of Yoga, they realise how beneficial it is and how they can continue it injury free to make it a part of their lifestyle.
How important is flexibility for Yoga Practice
Yoga has many postures, and some of them are advanced Asanas which can be really demanding. Practicing Advanced Asanas need flexibility and strength, but that should not be someone’s end goal. Even though those postures look good in pictures, one should not stress themselves in practicing such Asanas if the body does not permit. So in one word, Yoga Practice does not require gymnastic level flexbility, this can very well be done with normal body movements and basic mobility. However if one continues practice for long term in the right form with correct breathing, body gradually opens up and gets readied for advanced postures. If someone is a beginner or an intermediate practitioner they should focus on connecting their mind and breath with the posture. That itself will bring necessary benefits to them and not aspire for difficult and advanced Asanas. One thing to remember, Yoga practice should be taken for long term and should not be pursued because some asana looks good on Instagram.
